What is an Impact Copolymer?

Pinnacle’s 2000, 3000, 4000 and 8000 series Impact Copolymer are thermoplastic polymers produced by the polymerization of propylene. Impact Copolymers (also known as heterophasic copolymers) are characterized by having high impact and medium to high stiffness. The ethylene and propylene rubber created in this process is known as EPR and is dispersed in the matrix to enhance the impact and physical properties of the material. Pinnacle’s Impact Copolymers also come in a wide range of melt flows, stiffnesses and impact strength. Impact copolymers are used in many processing technologies including injection molding, blow molding, compression molding, and film and sheet extrusion. With applications such as closures, storage buckets, and appliance parts.
